Crews Continue To Work On BRIDGEPORT Salvage
May 30, 2021
ATLANTIC BEACH, Fla - Saturday morning, the crew set up pumps on BRIDGEPORT and dewatered the starboard #2, 3, 4 & 6 voids down to the external waterline. Port heel at this evening's low tide remains at 23 degrees.
Sunday, the team will return to BRIDGEPORT and, conditions permitting, conduct dive operations to survey the port void salvage hatches to determine if they were damaged during the displacement of the cargo hold hatch covers. If possible, pneumatic connections will be made to the port voids in advance of pressurization and dewatering.
Health and safety of the community and responders plus the protection of the environment are the top priorities of the unified response.
