Salvage Crews Continue Daily Operations

June 5, 2021

ATLANTIC BEACH, Fla - Friday, the crew boarded CAPT. TIBB and arrived offshore in the morning and conducted successful dive operations to remove one cargo hatch cover from the port side of BRIDGEPORT.

Sea conditions, and the danger posed by the fragile gantry crane, were such that the crew could not access the cargo hatch cover aft. This cover will remain against the hull as the salvage team moves forward.

Conditions on scene were too rough to allow work to be conducted safely on the port side salvage hatches.

CAPT. TIBB has been demobilized as the dive support vessel, with the dive station now transferred to the FARRELL 256. The FARRELL 256 and MEAGAN ANN moved to safe harbor for Friday night.

The STEPHEN DANN and THOMAS DANN remain on location tonight.

Saturday, the crew will depart the marina early. The FARRELL 256 is scheduled to follow and will moor off the port side of BRIDGEPORT.

Fittings to repair the salvage hatches have been fabricated and will be installed as conditions allow.

Furthering the salvage plan, measurements of attachment points will be taken and incorporated into the rotation and linear pulling plan.

Health and safety of the community and responders plus the protection of the environment are the top priorities of the unified response.
